Eight Donated Cars for Eight Working Families

Working Wheels is proud to share that we have already matched eight local working families with their cars so far this year. But we could never do it alone!

  • All the vehicles were donated by generous folks in the Western North Carolina area, and the repairs were funded by financial donations from the community.
  • The cars were expertly repaired at a discount by our local partner mechanics, including The Organic Mechanic, Precision International, and Mostly Automotive.
  • Our participants were referred to Working Wheels by Helpmate, the Buncombe County Re-Entry Council, the YWCA of Asheville, the Asheville Housing Authority Family Self-Sufficiency program, and the Buncombe County Adult Drug Treatment Court.
  • Our fiscal sponsors help to fund a 6-month cost-sharing warranty for each car to make sure that our participants have the support they need to keep their car running safely and reliably.

With the support of our amazing community, we’re off to a great start, and we’re excited to see what opportunities and celebrations this year brings!

I have been taking the bus ever since I moved to Asheville. I will use this vehicle for work and it will also allow me to pick up my son on weekends.
